A real-time animated film shoot, where the audience creates the images right before everyone’s eyes.

Founded in 2022, the Hypnoscope collective brings together researchers and artists around research-creation projects at the crossroads of live performance and immersive technologies. The collective designs playful, participatory experiences where the audience is invited to take an active part in shaping narratives through the use of virtual reality, motion capture, and artificial intelligence. Hypnoscope has created three shows—The Story Weaver, The Automaton’s Dream, and The Wild Saga of the Deep-Sea Castaway—presented at numerous festivals and venues, including the Biennale Chroniques in Marseille and the Recto VRso festival (2024 and 2025). Its work also engages in a close dialogue with academic research, particularly in collaboration with the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and the EnsadLab laboratory, exploring emerging forms of human-machine co-creation.
