CORE.FM is an interactive installation that invites the public to (re)discover the history of Black popular music—including rap, techno, and baile funk—through the metaphor of a pirate radio station with scrambled frequencies. Visitors manipulate a physical transmitter to restore a distorted audio signal. As the frequency becomes clearer, the stories, cultural contexts, and legacies embodied in the music emerge in turn—sound clips, archival material, and anecdotes. The search for the signal becomes a metaphor for the quest for understanding.
